278. Elizabeth⁷ Fillebrown (Hon. Thomas⁶, John⁵, John⁴, Thomas³, Humpfrey² Phillibrowne, Robert¹ ffilebrowne)⁽³²⁷⁴⁾ was born in Hallowell, Lincoln (now Kennebec) County, Massachusetts (now Maine) February 2, 1792.⁽³²⁷⁵⁾ The midwife was Martha Ballard who had delivered her half brother a few months earlier. Elizabeth died April 11, 1847 in Winthrop, Kennebec County, Maine, at 55 years of age.⁽³²⁷⁶⁾ The year may have been 1846.

Elizabeth married Daniel Hayward January 1, 1811 in Winthrop, Kennebec County, Maine.⁽³²⁷⁷⁾ Daniel was born September 24, 1787 in Winthrop, Lincoln (now Kennebec) County, Massachusetts (now Maine).⁽³²⁷⁸⁾ Daniel⁽³²⁷⁹⁾ was the son of Mathew Hayward and Rebecca (________). Daniel died July 31, 1871 at 83 years of age.⁽³²⁸⁰⁾ Daniel, Mathew Hayward's child, resided with Mathew in Winthrop, Kennebec County, Massachusetts (now Maine) circa 1800.⁽³²⁸¹⁾ The "farm was principally a part of Lot No. 51, one of the original Chandler lots. His dwelling house, built by him in 1800 or 1801, was lately (circa 1925) owned and occupied by W.C. Hinds."

When Daniel was age 35 and Elizabeth Fillebrown was age 31 they became the parents of John Hayward March 15, 1823 in Winthrop, Kennebec County, Maine.⁽³²⁸⁸⁾ When Daniel was age 37 and Elizabeth Fillebrown was age 33 they became the parents of Sarah C. Hayward August 4, 1825.⁽³²⁸⁹⁾ The date may have been the 27th.

When Daniel was age 40 and Elizabeth Fillebrown was age 36 they became the parents of Francis Hayward April 20, 1828.⁽³²⁹⁰⁾ When Daniel was age 42 and Elizabeth Fillebrown was age 37 they became the parents of Thomas F. Hayward January 25, 1830.⁽³²⁹¹⁾ When Daniel was age 45 and Elizabeth Fillebrown was age 40 they became the parents of Peleg Benson Hayward October 19, 1832.⁽³²⁹²⁾ The day may have been the 9th.

Elizabeth was baptized a religion unknown at the church/site unknown August 1804 in Hallowell, Kennebec County, Maine.⁽³²⁹⁴⁾ Elizabeth moved from a home in Hallowell, Kennebec County, Massachusetts (now Maine) to Winthrop, Kennebec Co., ME April 25, 1808.⁽³²⁹⁵⁾ The farm, which Thomas Fillebrown purchased in 1803 with additions in 1807 and 1808 is also described as near East Hallowell. "Colonel Fillebrown brought with him to Winthrop architect's plans, for a new house of the Colonial style, and soon had a cellar dug and stoned on the east side of the road about one hundred yards from the north boundary. A well was also dug and stoned, and a new barn built, but embarrassed by having to pay another man's note he was obliged to forgo the building of the new house." The cellar, well and barn disappeared more than a generation ago (reported in 1910).

This is a bit of history.⁽³³¹¹⁾ In 1852 the brothers William, John, and Peleg Hayward traveled overland to California. On the way Peleg died of cholera. It appears that this was a second trip to California by John.
