Her body was interred November 5, 1991 in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois.(16213) Burial was at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Birdie married Hubert Lingle August 7, 1932 in Pulaski County, Illinois.(16214) Hubert was born December 2, 1905 in Union County, Illinois.(16215) He was born on Bald Mountain outside of Alto Pas, Union County, Illinois. Hubert died June 17, 1952 in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois, at 46 years of age.(16217) He was in a car crash while bringing a load of produce into Metropolis.

His body was interred circa June 1952 in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois.(16218) Burial was at Odd Fellows Cemetery.

When Hubert was age 27 and Birdie Marie Hooppaw was age 21 they became the parents of Carol Lee Lingle May 9, 1933 in Union County, Illinois.(16219) This is a bit of history.(16220) Circa 1937 "The Lingles were uprooted with several other Metropolis residents by the great flood. Living in the basement of the church, the 25 year old Birdie took charge of cooking and washing and bringing smiles to the faces of those in like circumstances, there she earned her nickname Happy."

Hubert was employed at Lingle Brothers Produce as owner and operator in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois circa 1938.(16221) He owned the business until the time of his death.

When Hubert was age 36 and Birdie Marie Hooppaw was age 30 they became the parents of Robert Thomas Lingle October 21, 1942.(16222) Hubert's funeral was held June 18, 1952 at First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois.(16223)

Birdie was employed at the local school; district as an elementry school teacher in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois before 1932.(16224) "For 26 years Birdie was an elementary school teacher with most of those years coming in Metropolis. She taught at Lincoln, Clark, and Washington schools and was remembered fondly by former students."

She also was very active in the Methodist Women, serving different offices including that of president."

This is a family picture.(16229) David Hooppaw and three of his siblings, Etta Belle Hindman, Birdie Lingle, and George Hooppaw gathered in front of the home of George and Mary in Pulaski, Illinois in 1972 in the last group photograph before David's death in October 22, 1975.

Birdie retired from the local school district in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois circa 1977.(16230) She retired after a total of 26 years of service having served both before her marriage and after the death of Hubert.

Birdie resided in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois circa 1989.(16231) Her funeral was held November 5, 1991 at First United Methodist Church in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois.(16232) Her son and daughter told of memories of their mother and granddaughter Cheri Shields sang "How Great Thou Art". Pallbearers were Danny Goins, Steve Lingle, J.D. Seitzinger, Roger Wells, Mike Hindeman, and Charles Cornwell.
