While unloading troops in the landing zone, his aircraft came under intense enemy fire. He was struck by a round and died instantly." His body was interred May 30, 1969 in Ayer, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.(15155) Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery. Internment was accompanied by a 12 gun salute by the Army.
